Artist Statement

‘Can’t Put it Back Together Again’

 1      It’s too late to try to put it all back together again.

2      The greatest threat to humanity is climate change.

3      We have now gone past the moment of turning back.

4      The seas are rising. We have climate change refugees.

5      We are losing the Great Barrier Reef.

6      Broken bottles are shaped by the movement of the sand and the waves.

7      Sand is sea shells, rocks and other components broken down.

8      This glass was collected between 1979 and 2025 between Thirroul and Austinmer beaches.

9      I think about this every day.

‘The consequences of climate change now include, among others, intense droughts, water scarcity, severe fires, rising sea levels, flooding, melting polar ice, catastrophic storms and declining biodiversity.’
